La Neuvaine

English follows

In the Sorcellerie tradition, several dates are important, but few are as significant as June 24 (the gathering of St. John’s herbs) and October 23 (the beginning of the Neuvaine aux ancêtres (Novena to the Ancestors)).

Since today is the 23rd, we wanted to share with you what the Novena to the Ancestors is.

Broadly speaking, this tradition consists of lighting the same candle for nine consecutive days or evenings while reciting a prayer and taking time for quiet reflection. It is a special opportunity to connect with our ancestors of blood, of heart, and in spirit.
