Dans ce texte, on réfère à la personne qui lit les cartes comme le.a “lecteur.ice” et la personne qui pose la question au lecteur.ice comme le.a “client.e”.

Matériel: Un jeu de 52 cartes dont on a retiré les deux jokers. Le jeu utilisé est au choix du.de la lecteur.ice. Neuf, usé, Bicycle traditionnel ou un jeu sophistiqué, cela n’a pas d’importance tant qu’il vous parle… ou qu’il dépanne au moment où vous en avez besoin.

Le client.e est assis.e en face de la lecteur.ice.

La question: Le.a client.e pose sa question. Plus la question est pointue, plus précis sera le tirage. Les questions de “guidance générale” devraient être évitées, car selon notre expérience, elles ne se prêtent pas bien à cette méthode. Exemple: “Est-ce que je vais obtenir la promotion que je convoite? ».

Le battage des cartes: Le.a lecteur.ice donne le jeu de carte au.à la client.e qui battra les cartes pour le temps qui semble lui convenir.

Couper les cartes: Le.a lecteur.ice coupe le paquet de cartes en trois, cinq ou sept plus petits paquets, face vers le bas, selon les recommandations de.de la lecteur.ice.

Pige: Le.a lecteur.ice retourne la carte se trouvant sur le dessus de chaque pile. Trois, cinq ou sept cartes seront donc face vers le haut.

Lecture: La lecture commence une fois que toutes les cartes ont été révélées, en partant de la gauche vers la droite du.de la lecteur.ice. La première carte sera lue en relation avec la deuxième et ainsi de suite jusqu’à ce que le message soit révélé. Il est aussi possible que la carte “centrale” ne soit pas la première révélée, si c’est le cas, toutes les autres cartes doivent être lues en relation avec celle-ci. C’est le.la lecteur.ice qui déterminera si c’est le cas par ses interactions avec le.la client.e.

Suites: Le système ne donne pas de signification différente d’une suite à l’autre, il est cependant possible pour le lecteur de les utiliser dans ses lectures. Par exemple, si une majorité de cœur est tirée, il est possible que l’amour ou l’amitié joue un rôle important et les cartes pourraient être interprétées sous cet angle ou encore, le trèfle peut être associé à la chance. Le pique a généralement une connotation négative, ce qui pourrait aussi influencer l’interprétation de la carte ou de la lecture complète si cette suite domine.

Cartes spéciales: L’as et le 2 de pique sont toutes les deux considérées comme les cartes du DIable. Cependant, l’as de pique est aussi associé aux rêves divinatoires et pourrait être interprété comme une prémonition par rapport aux cartes l’entourant. Le 2 de pique est le Diable personnifié. Ces deux cartes devraient avoir une prédominante dans une lecture.

Carte de clarification: Si après l’interprétation de toutes les cartes, le message est encore nébuleux, le.a lecteur.ice peut demander au.à la client.e de reprendre toutes les cartes encore face contre terre et de couper ce jeu en deux. Le.a client.e révélera alors au.à la lecteur.ice la dernière carte du paquet du dessus.

Carte volante: Si une carte tombe du paquet à n’importe quel moment (brassage, coupe ou révélation), cette carte deviendra centrale dans la lecture. Toutes les cartes sont interprétées en relation avec celle-ci. Cette carte est supplémentaire au tirage de trois, cinq ou sept et ne remplace aucune d’entre elles.

Set-up: Use a deck of 52 playing cards – ensuring that the Jokers are removed. The deck may be of the reader’s choosing (new, old, traditional Bicycle or fancy one, it doesn’t matter as long as it speaks to you. Or is convenient at the moment). The reader and the seeker will sit opposite, facing each other.

The seeker sits facing the reader.

The Question: The seeker will ask a question to the reader. The more narrow the question, the more precise the reading will be. General readings are to be avoided as in our own experience, these don’t lend well to this method. Example: “Will I get my promotion at work?”

Shuffle: The reader will hand the deck to the seeker so that they may shuffle the deck to their heart’s content.

Cut: The seeker will then, under the guidance of the reader, cut the deck into either three, five or seven packets.

Draw: The reader will then reveal the top card of the packet to their far left (the far right of the seeker), this will be followed by the next card to the right and so on until all three, five or seven cards are revealed.

Reading: The reading begins once all cards have been revealed, from left to right as per the reader’s perspective. The reading will start with the first card, which will then be “read into” the next and so on until each card revealed adds a dimension to the oracular narrative. It is possible that the “central” card to the narrative is not the first one revealed and, in such a case the other cards will be in relation to it. The reader will make this determination in their interactions with the seeker.

Suits: the system does not take into consideration the differentiation from one suit to the other, it is however possible for the reader to use these throughout their reading. For example, if the majority of the cards drawn are hearts, it is possible that love or friendship plays an important role and the cards can be interpreted from that angle. Clubs may also indicate aspects of luck. Spades generally have a negative connotation, which could also influence the interpretation of the card or the reading as a whole if that suit dominates.

Special cards: The ace and two of spades are both considered the Devil’s cards, however the ace of spades is primarily associated with divinatory dreams and as such can be read as a premonition in relation to the cards surrounding it. Whereas the two are specifically the Devil Himself. These two cards should have a predominant role in the reading.

Clarification card: If further clarification is needed in order to tie the reading together, the seeker may be asked by the reader to cut the main deck and reveal the card from the underside of the top packet.

Stray card: If a card strays from the deck at any time (during shuffling, cutting or revealing) that card becomes the central card to the oracular narrative. All other cards are interpreted in relation to it. This card is supplemental to the drawn three, five or seven cards and not a substitution for any of the cards revealed.
